It seems it’s time to say goodbye to summer, so what better way to do that, than to share one of my favorite summer collections.
I LOVE shopping for others. I love going through a store, seeing it through their eyes, and finding things they’d like. A few weeks ago, my sister asked me to shop for her. My answer? IMMEDIATELY yes! She and her boyfriend recently moved into a new apartment and were looking for some decor to make it feel like home.
My sister described the aesthetic she was looking for as “coastal auntie”. I love this description. I immediately got to work, sharing some Pinterest posts back and forth with her to get a better idea of what she envisioned. She wanted to make sure the home wasn’t too kitschy. I’m sure we’ve all seen those houses… you know, the ones with the signs that say, “Life is better at the beach”. So with a clear understanding, I got to work. Cue a trip to Goodwill!

The haul included a still life painting, a fish platter, a seashell dish, and two milk glass candy jars. Fish were so in this summer, so I knew she would love it. It could be used as a tray for a coffee table, a catchall dish for keys, or a serving plate. I loved that the seashell was a clean and crisp white. It’s coastal without screaming beach, just what my sister asked for. As another versatile catchall item, I envisioned it in the bathroom to hold extra hand towels.
My favorite pieces have to be the vintage milk glass candy jars. Every auntie has a little sugar to give her nieces and nephews! These are perfect to keep on a little bar cart, at the ready when company arrives. Keep them stocked with wrapped candies or nuts, and you’re suddenly the hostess with the mostest!

This little shopping trip was so much fun for me and a great way to bond with my sister. I can’t wait to push this hobby onto other friends and family, hee hee.
How well do you think I met the “coastal auntie” vibe? Let me know in the comments!
